Curtis was saving gas in his tiny Geo Metro and his car was totally smashed,as you can see above. He was too!. Curtis was cut from the car and flown by helicopter to a hospital in Ft.Smith. His left and right legs were badly broken, his left and right leg's were broken with compound fractures (bones knee down). his left leg's femur was broken.His pelvis was broken in six places.All his left ribs were broken.His left arm and left shoulder were broken.Curtis also had five broken back bones..... His arm and leg were wired together and his pelvis was wired in place to mend. His left arm has a rod from elbow to shoulder and his left leg has a rod from knee to hip. They also found that his abdominal aorta was also torn open. During the heart surgery, the lack of blood flow to his lower body helped to cause a spinal injury that caused him to be paralyzed from mid-back down or around T-9. Curtis also suffered a major stroke during surgeries. Curtis could not talk or move at all. Curtis was in a coma for a couple of months. His wife visited while Curtis lived at the hospital. Rachel knew Curtis would not want to remain as just a vegetable. She did a "Do Not Revive" order and had him taken off the life support. His brother was holding his hand and noticed it moving and told the Dr. Here Curtis is now. He is brain damaged and has forgot much of his life, but not all of it. Thank goodness all that CALCULUS was useless to his photography.
